At 32, I had the free-testosterone levels of a man in his 60s.
And that was with me doing everything right, for years.
Sleep dialled.
Training locked in.
Nutrition consistent.
I theorize this to be partly genetics, and partly environmental.
The truth is, men in general today are running on much lower levels of testosterone compared to our grandfathers and great grandfathers.
Modern times are simply not congruent with optimal testosterone levels.
Less nutrient density in our food.
Less time spent outdoors.
More time sitting.
More stress.
So what did I do about it?
I went on medically prescribed and supervised testosterone replacement therapy.
I’m nearly 8 months in, and I feel like I’ve been brought back to life.
I knew I felt “off” before, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was.
And I didn’t realize how shitty I actually felt until I was given the opportunity to feel the way I should have felt all along.
My masculine edge returned.
My recovery got smoother.
My workouts got better.
My energy came back.
My mood improved.
My brain fog lifted.
The way I saw it, I had two choices:
I could continue to let my levels decline further and feel like garbage because “30-something-year-olds shouldn’t need TRT.”
Or I could accept my biochemical reality, take charge of my health (and life) and begin the optimization process now.
I chose door number two.
If you’re a man over 30 leading a stressful and demanding career, I guess you could consider this an official PSA to have a comprehensive blood panel done asap.
You never know what’s going on under the hood until you check.
